METAL-i LOGO 2007

Snakebite came to the attention of The i back in the murky depths of 2006, when they and Silas hollered out to us to go see them live at Croydon's legendary CARTOON venue, and check 'em out we did.

We've seen 'em live 4 times now, and this is the most professional demo we've heard all year.

Check out Snakebite on their Myspace and hear this buncha fire-starters for yourself, and get yo' ass a copy of this new EP, NOW!

SNAKEBITE - "07" EP

snakebite 60unitsRight from the outset with the instrumental Intro, we know this is gonna be Snakebite as we know and love 'em, but fine-tuned, with all the studio bells n' whistles. Melodic and unthreatening, the Intro might lull your ears into a false sense of security if you're not familiar with these South East London outfit.

"Bruised, Hungover and I'm Fucking Broke" is uncompromisingly hard, If events from a couple years ago were different, you could imagine Pantera touring with Snakebite. Jason's throat-bursting vocals roar and tear over a stunning soundscape, and it's all just how METAL-i's Bulldog imagined they'd sound on CD. Too many bands out there that we've heard just throw stuff together and hope it works, but these guys - aided and abetted in their quest for universal domination by manager/guru Steve Parkes KNOW what works, if they were any more together as a unit they'd need surgery to separate them!

"Strength" kicks in with an almost military drum, and guitar work that just can't be faulted. This is the sort of music Bulldog envisions emos thrown through the air to if they dared venture into the mosh while these guys are on a stage. Jason gets to do more than just roar here, and shows he can hit the essential highs like the best, and better than most of 'em.
snakebite's Jason bustin' a gut on vocals"Process" is a meaty track, and not just steak, we're talkin a whole raw slice of wild buffalo here. Hang on.. Jason's actually singing almost normally on part of it! Works well, nice contract. Any emos in the moshpit during this one are only gonna be leaving one of two ways - in an ambulance or via the nearest window.
"60 Units [I'm Still Standing]" is a live favourite, one all the band's fans know and rightly respect. One word sums up 60 Units on CD - FUCKIN HELL! Okay that's two words but you get the idea. Awesome power beats and chords, killer vocals. Brutal, melodic, you'll get bruised listening to this even if you're a hundred miles from the nearest moshpit.
"Godcries" grips you by the ears and smacks you face first into the concrete, devastatingly-heavy riffs and beats coupled with Jason at his best blasting out the vocal, this is - for us - the stand-out track of a disc that's totally unfaultable, utterly fucking stunning.
"Visceral Pissery" is another track we've heard done live before, and it doesn't disappoint on this disc either, almost becoming Snakebite's signature tune. If there was a Snakebite TV show, this would be its soundtrack, over opening credits of chavs and emos being laid waste.

If ever Pantera had an heir-apparent in the hard metal scene, surely it's Snakebite. We defy you not to worship this band. Snakebite are a weapon of sound, precision-made to lay waste to anything that stands in their way.
