Eyelash can be found both on Myspace and at their official site, linked below. You'll also find them on the website of the UK's (channel) 4, upon whose programming vocalist Fi was recently seen, adding her distinctive vocals to the reality show "MusiCool". That show, incidentally, is how we found out about this band in the first place, so kudo's to 4 for getting words out. As you'll see in our review on the right there, this is one of the best bands we've had the good fortune to hear this year, original and powerful, taking influences but forging their own distinctive direction. Go check 'em out, you will not be disappointed.
EYELASH - Myspace review
This band came to our attention after we saw vocalist Fe's performance on Channel 4's "MusiCool" reality show, we decided she was a damn good singer and they mentioned she was in a band, so we looked up the band on the 4 website - and so we discovered Eyelash. This is high-quality funk-edged metal. Don't be fooled into thinking that this is another chick-rock band like Evanescence just because of the gal in front, Eyelash are capable of "My Ruin" heaviness but Fi has far more melody in her voice than Tairrie B (bless 'er) can manage, and the band belt out stuff with a sleazy funk-rock-punk chuggy edge. There's plenty of influence here, on the track "Punk Died" you get flashes of The Go.Go's injected with the blood and soul of the Clash, it's a good mix having plenty of influence but there's a direction, sound and style that belongs to nobody else but Eyelash.
This is a head-turning ear-enlightening band with no pretensions,
they are what you see and hear, kick-ass and cliche-free, hard-drinkin, hard-rockin', go play it, and play it loud. They're working on new material too, which we can't wait to hear. We're gonna try to get along to see them sometime this year, depending on other factors.
Can't fault this at all, from the storming rock blockbuster of "Bow To The People" to the slow soulful chill of "White Trash Poppy's..", if you don't listen to another band after Eyelash before you die, you'll die happy. We'll sum it up with what legendary UK metal mag Metal Hammer said about them - "Anti cliche...Like a big-in-Japan bubblegum pop band attacked by sex, drugs, metal and black." Fuck yeah!
